These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Root Career Institute ("RCI", "we", "us"). They apply when you use our website and our Android app (together, the "Service").

By creating an account or buying a course, you accept these Terms. Our Privacy Policy and our Refund & Cancellation Policy are part of these Terms. Please read them carefully.

1. About us

Root Career Institute is an online coaching business for JEE, NEET and Class 9–12 students.

2. Who can use the Service

• You must give true and complete details when you sign up.
• If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must create your account or approve it. The parent or guardian accepts these Terms for you and is responsible for your use of the Service.
• One account is for one student only.

3. Your account

• You log in with a one-time password (OTP) sent to your email.
• Keep your email and OTPs private. Never share an OTP with anyone. RCI staff will never ask for your OTP.
• You are responsible for all activity on your account.
• Tell us at once if you think someone else is using your account.

4. One active phone

• Your account works on one phone at a time.
• You can switch to a new phone only a limited number of times. The default limit is 2 switches in 30 days.
• When you switch phones, offline downloads on the old phone stop working.
• If you lose your phone or reach the limit for a genuine reason, contact support. Support can reset your device after checking your identity.

5. Buying a course

• You can buy courses only on our website. The app does not sell courses. It only unlocks courses you have already bought.
• Razorpay processes all payments. We do not store your card or UPI details.
• Prices are in Indian Rupees (₹) and include 18% GST.
• We issue a GST invoice for every purchase. We use the state you give us to apply GST. Please give your correct state.
• After payment, log in to the app with the same email you used on the website. Your course will unlock.
• If money is taken but your course does not unlock, contact us with your payment details. We will fix it.
• We may change prices at any time. A price change does not affect courses you have already bought.

6. Course validity

• Each course has a validity period. It is shown on the course page. The default is 365 days from the date of purchase.
• Validity runs from the purchase date, whether or not you use the course.
• When validity ends, your access to that course ends. This includes its lectures, downloads, notes and tests.

7. Your licence to use our content

• All lectures, notes, quizzes, tests and other material ("Content") belong to RCI or its licensors. Copyright law protects them.
• When you buy a course, we give you a limited, personal, non-transferable and non-exclusive licence. You may use the Content only for your own study, during the validity period.
• You do not own the Content. Buying a course gives you no other rights.

8. What you must not do

You must not:

• Share your account, login or OTP, or let anyone else study through your account.
• Record, screenshot, photograph or film the Content in any way, including with another device.
• Copy, upload, share, sell or distribute the Content anywhere, including on social media and messaging apps.
• Remove, cover or hide the watermark on videos.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the app.
• Bypass, or try to bypass, our security. This includes encryption, the device limit, screenshot blocking and the watermark.
• Use bots, scripts or scrapers on the Service.
• Upload anything illegal, abusive or obscene, or anything that belongs to someone else.
• Harass teachers, staff or other students.

The moving watermark shows your masked email. It helps us trace leaked content. If you break these rules, we may block your account without a refund. We may also take legal action.

9. Offline downloads

• You can download lectures inside the app to watch without internet.
• Downloads are encrypted. They play only inside our app, on the same phone.
• Downloads expire after a set time. They also stop working when your course validity ends, when you switch phones or when you delete your account.

10. Doubts

• You can ask study doubts in the app. You can add images, such as a photo of a question.
• Fair use: you can ask up to 20 doubts per day.
• We try to answer every doubt, but we cannot promise a fixed reply time.
• Ask only study-related doubts. Do not upload personal details or photos of other people.

11. Content you upload

• You own the doubts and images you upload ("User Content").
• You give RCI a free, non-exclusive licence to store, view and use your User Content. We use it only to answer your doubts and run the Service.
• We may remove User Content that breaks these Terms.
• We delete your User Content when you delete your account.

12. Changes to courses and the Service

• We may update, add, reorder or replace lectures, notes, tests and teachers. We do this to keep courses useful and up to date.
• The Service may sometimes be unavailable. This can happen during maintenance, or because of problems outside our control, such as internet or provider outages. We will try to keep breaks short.
• You may need to install the latest app version to keep using the app.
• If we withdraw a course before your validity ends, we will refund you as our Refund & Cancellation Policy explains.

13. No guarantee of results

We work hard to help you prepare. But results depend on many things, including your own effort. We do not guarantee any marks, rank or admission.

14. Suspension and termination

• You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
• We may suspend or block your account if you break these Terms (especially section 8), or if the law requires it. We may do this without notice where needed to protect our content.
• If we block your account for breaking these Terms, you will not get a refund.
• If you think we blocked you by mistake, contact us. We will review it.

15. Limitation of liability

• We provide the Service "as is" and "as available".
• To the extent the law allows, RCI is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as loss of data, time or opportunity.
• To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about a course is limited to the amount you paid for that course.
• Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have under Indian consumer protection law that cannot be excluded.

16. Indemnity

If you break these Terms or the law, for example by sharing our Content, you agree to cover the losses and costs RCI suffers as a result.

17. Governing law and disputes

• These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
• If you have a problem, please contact us first. We will try to settle it fairly and quickly.
• Subject to the points above, the courts at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, will have exclusive jurisdiction.
• This does not affect your right to approach a consumer commission under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. For important changes, we will tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the new Terms.

We will acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours. We will try to resolve it within one month.
